How Sleep Cycle Calculations Work

Sleep calculations are based on the natural rhythm of human brain waves. During sleep, your brain cycles through three primary stages: Light Sleep (NREM 1 & 2), Deep Sleep (Slow-Wave Sleep or NREM 3), and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) dream sleep. A complete progression through these phases takes approximately 90 minutes on average.

The Hazard of Sleep Inertia
